Importance of the Procedures of Conformity Assessment and Guidelines of Homologation

Establish the requirements, deadlines, and procedures necessary so that whoever is obliged to carry out these processes have the necessary information to do so, which will contribute to the products, equipment, devices, apparatus, and infrastructure destined for telecommunications or broadcasting. That can be connected to a telecommunications network and/or make use of the radio spectrum, comply with the Conformity Assessment, and can carry out the Homologation process.

In Mexico, we have various Conformity Assessment Bodies (CAB) accredited and authorized based on guidelines issued by the IFT, in accordance with international standards

On February 25, 2020, the Conformity Assessment Procedure in telecommunications and broadcasting was issued, and subsequently, on December 27, 2021, released the last update.

Mexico has 5 Accredited and Authorized National Third-Party Testing Laboratories which have a robust infrastructure regarding measurement capabilities and qualified personnel for the application of test methods referenced in Technical Provisions.

21* CERTIFICATION BODIES (CB) have been Accredited and Authorized to carry out certification activities, to determine compliance with one or more characteristics in the products, equipment, devices, or telecommunications and/or broadcasting apparatus subject to the current Conformity Assessment procedures and the Technical Provisions issued by the Institute.

Mexico has 8* “robot” systems to carry out the test methods to evaluate compliance with the maximum limits of non-ionizing radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation towards the human being - Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) set up in the Technical Provision IFT-012-2019 issued by the Institute.

On June 27, 2022, the Guidelines for the Homologation of products, equipment, devices, or apparatus for telecommunications or broadcasting, entered into force.

Currently, there are more than 70* experts accredited by the IFT in the field of telecommunications and/or broadcasting to support the homologation procedures, as well as to comply with various obligations established in the Technical and Administrative Provisions issued by the IFT.
